I secured an old PHILCO H-935 Refrigerator over the weekend for a possible Kegerator build. I have no experience building one, much less kegging, and am not so sure of the efficiency of this particular fridge. I believe it is NOT a frostfree refrigerator, and I gathered that that may be a good thing, efficiency-wise. I have looked at some videos online and have reviewed some posts on HBT with an old PHILCO that came out looking pretty damn awesome. Does anybody have any resources they trust to guide me in this adventure? I'm not especially handy and renovating anything, much less old refrigerators, is not something that I have any experience with.
The inside is pretty smelly when the unit is turned off, but it's not overpowering...yet. I assume this is due to a leak at some point into the insulation and must be some mold or mildew. When the unit is running however there is no smell. Should I be concerned with this to the point that I would want to replace the insulation. I didn't know if it could create any off-odors in the kegs as those are sealed, but I wondered mostly about the lines that will be contained within. Does anyone have any opinions on this?
Show me the light, Brewminati!

The PHILCO in Kegerator #2 in this link is the one I was referring to. Very Cool paint job, love the two-tone. Color aside, this is what I envision for mine.

Yeah, that's pretty sweet man. Sounds like the guy spent a lot, but I'll bet you could do it no problem so long as you don't spend the money to completely rebuild the thing. If it works, great! Maybe if you call Maaco or something they could repaint it for cheap!?
